WAYNESBORO- A Facebook post by the Washington Township Police Department seems to have quickly led to charges for a Waynesboro man following a confusing series of events involving drugs and a doormat. Matthew David Lehman is free on an unsecured bail of $25,000 after being charged with felony delivery of a controlled substance, misdemeanor delivery of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession.
On April 11th, Washington Township PD were contacted by their 911 dispatch that saw a Jackson Avenue caller say that someone had placed drugs under their doormat. When police arrived, they say that two people were sitting in a nearby parked car and watching them approach the home.
Once speaking with WTPD, the homeowner told officers he was alerted to someone coming up to his doorbell via video and found an unknown male come up to his door, lift the doormat, and place something under it. After that unknown male, now believed to be Matthew Lehman, placed the items underneath, he took a cell phone picture of it and left. Those items, WTPD say, were orange pills in a small plastic container. They were eventually identified as Adderall, a schedule II substance. Below are pictures released by WTPD on their Facebook page of the alleged interaction.

Police then spoke to the people sitting in the vehicle nearby who were watching them. Officers say that the driver told them that her sister had called her previously and asked her to pick up her medication. Believing it was delivered to the wrong address, that driver (who has not been charged at this time), did not know what type of medication it was nor the person who dropped it off.
After posting pictures of the incident on social media, WTPD say they received an anonymous call that saw someone claim that they knew the person pictured in the posts to be Matthew Lehman of Waynesboro. That caller allegedly told police that he had seen Lehman that day wearing the pictured clothing and driving a vehicle that matched the description of the one given by police. Additionally, a second anonymous caller told WTPD the same information about Lehman’s vehicle.
After matching driver’s license photos and vehicle information, Washington Township PD saw fit to charge Lehman with leaving the drugs on the porch that day on April 11th.
Matthew Lehman remains free and awaiting his next court date, slated for April 22nd.
